Recipes for a family barbecue
A barbecue is a method of cooking different types of meat, subjecting it to the heat of the fire. It is also known as barbecue or asado and is usually used in family or social settings. Ready to make your own family barbecue? Here 4 options.
1. Argentine roast beef
Argentine meat is one of the most requested when preparing a family barbecue. Argentina’s livestock industry is recognized internationally and especially by meat lovers.
For a great family barbecue, we recommend that you try Argentine meat. Another option is to combine this with the meat of our town. Let us remember that beef is an important source of protein and compounds that contribute to health, as shown in this study carried out by the Food Technology Institute-INTA (Argentina).
Ingredients
- 1 kilo of beef fillet.
- ½ kilo of marinated chorizo.
- 5 tablespoons of sea salt (75 g).
- 1 bottle of pilsen beer (355 mL).
Preparation
- First, cut the meat into pieces.
- Then soften the meat with several hammer blows.
- When the meat is already tender, place it on a plate.
- Then salt the meat.
- Add, little by little, the beer.
- It should be left to rest for approximately 2 hours.
- On the other hand, you have to start heating the grill with charcoal and have it ready, just integrating the ingredients.
- After the resting time has passed, the meat is roasted based on the desired cooking term (it would be best to cook it for at least 20 minutes).
- Along with the beef, grill the chorizo for a time interval between 7 and 10 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and finally serve.
2. Grilled chicken in mustard sauce
For a memorable family barbecue, a good option is to opt for white meat instead of red meat. Based on this, we have a recipe that will be very novel for your guests, since it includes mustard sauce, something that will give the meat a lot of juiciness.
In this case, it should be noted that the consumption of white meat is highly recommended to take care of health. According to a study carried out by the Italian Foundation for Nutrition, it has highly digestible proteins, unsaturated lipids, B vitamins and minerals such as iron, zinc and copper.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons of mustard (65 g).
- 2 chickens cut into pieces (1150 g).
- 1 pinch of dried chili flakes (15 g).
- 1 tablespoon of crushed rosemary (25 g).
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil (50 mL).
- 1 large cup of lemon juice (100 mL).
- 2 yellow lemons and ½ cup of zest (60 g).
Preparation
- To start, mix in a bowl: lemon juice, lemon zest, dijon mustard, rosemary and dried chili flakes.
- Then add 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a little salt.
- Stir well to mix the ingredients.
- Then place the chicken to marinate in a large plastic bag. It can be left at room temperature for up to 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
- On the other hand, preheat the grill over medium heat.
- Remember to salt the chicken before setting it on the grill (ideally, the skin should get crispy, without burning).
- Let the chicken cook for 10-12 minutes and then flip (leave another 10-12 minutes on the other side).
- Finally, remove from the grill and garnish with lemon wedges (optional).
3. Pork ribs with barbecue sauce
Pork ribs are versatile and can be prepared with different ingredients that enhance their flavor. In this case, we propose some spices and Worcestershire sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 bottle of barbecue sauce (355 mL).
Preparation
- The night before grilling, place the raw ribs in a container (preferably glass) bathed in barbecue sauce.
- Let them marinate overnight.
- The next day, remove the ribs and wrap them, one by one, in aluminum foil. The wrappers must be well sealed.
- Also, preheat the oven to 150º C.
- The ribs are then placed in the oven on a baking sheet for 2 hours.
- After time, remove from the oven and place on the grill.
- Then, brush the ribs on the grill with more barbecue sauce.
- You have to let them caramelize on the outside a little (about 10 minutes on each side).
- The last step would be to cut into individual portions and enjoy.
4. Chicken skewers
Our last option is a type of chicken skewers, which will not take you too long. As we discussed in one of the previous recipes, chicken is a food that provides important nutrients. In addition, the breast in particular is low in fat and calories.

- 1 red onion (55 g).
- 1 tablespoon of salt (15 g).
- 2 chicken breasts (600 g).
- 1 cup with chicken dressing (100 mL).
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil (40 mL).
Preparation
- To start, cut the breasts into small cubes.
- Also, cut the onion into large squares.
- Next, season the breast with the salt, crushed garlic, and some chicken dressing.
- Afterwards, varnish the chicken with oil (this will prevent it from burning).
- On a stick, insert a chicken square and then an onion square; and so on until the stick is filled.
- You should also sprinkle on a little of the dressing.
- After all this, it is ready to grill over medium heat (make sure the chicken is juicy).
- Finally, bathe each skewer with the desired dressing. We recommend that you try the chimichurri sauce.
