Uses Of Hydrogen Peroxide In Beauty Treatments
Hydrogen peroxide or hydrogen peroxide is one of the elements that cannot be missing from the first aid kit at home, as it has dozens of applications.
However, it is not only used to disinfect wounds. It can also be very useful in our beauty treatments. In this article we tell you more.
The powers of hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is present in most homes as it is a very affordable antiseptic.
If you want to get the most out of this ingredient, take note of the following cosmetic applications:
1. To reduce spots on the skin
Over time, the dermis, especially the face, may show small spots, either due to exposure to the sun, cold or lack of exfoliation.
That is why we see certain areas darker than others and we do not know how to hide them. The good news is that hydrogen peroxide can reduce them. For this we must use it in moderation and in small doses.
What should you do?
- After exfoliating your face (you can use a homemade mask or a purchased beauty product) and washing it well, dip a cotton ball or swab in hydrogen peroxide.
- Go over the stains, leave for a few minutes and rinse.
- Perform this treatment once or twice a week and always at night.
2. To remove pimples
Acne not only appears in adolescents but can be very annoying in other stages of life (for example, during menstruation in women, when suffering a lot of stress or even eating a diet full of fat).
The pimples are produced by a blockage of the pores in the skin and as hydrogen peroxide is an excellent disinfectant it can eliminate the bacteria that accumulate in the dermis.
What should you do?
- It is as simple as running a little peroxide on the most critical areas after bathing and before going to bed.
- Repeat daily and don’t forget to rinse well in the morning.
3. Whiten teeth
Would you like to have a white and radiant smile like in toothpaste advertisements? Are you tired of showing yellow teeth caused by the consumption of tobacco, coffee or the passage of time?
Hydrogen peroxide can be very helpful in these cases. You can improve the effectiveness of this home treatment by consuming certain raw foods such as carrots, apples, and celery.
What should you do?
- It is very simple: soak a cotton ball or a swab with hydrogen peroxide and after night brushing, go through each tooth.
- If you don’t want to waste so much time, you can rinse for 10 seconds with one part hydrogen peroxide to three parts warm water.
- You can only do this treatment once a week because otherwise you will damage the enamel of your teeth.
4. Remove stains from nails
When we constantly paint our nails, we do not let them “breathe” and this can cause them to be brittle and brittle, but also to appear unsightly white or yellow spots.
What should you do?
- To restore their normal color, you can immerse your fingers in a container with water and a few drops of hydrogen peroxide for 5 minutes.
- After that, rinse and dry well. Try not to paint your nails for at least two days.
- Every time you remove the nail polish, repeat the procedure.
5. Lighten hair
If you don’t want to or can spend money at the beauty salon, you can wear beautiful light highlights on your hair. A perfect idea for this summer.
Most of the usual dyes contain hydrogen peroxide, although of a different volume than that used to disinfect wounds.
However, it can help us to lighten some tones. Open the medicine cabinet and take the hydrogen peroxide!
What should you do?
- Put some in a spray bottle and fill the container with water (both ingredients should be equal parts).
- Wash the head as usual and, with the hair still damp (towel dry), spray in small quantities while you comb your hair.
- Do not rinse and repeat two to three times a week.
- In about a month you will see the result: discreet and more natural than reflections or professional lighting.
6. Eliminate bad odors
If you suffer from excessive sweating, especially in summer or when it is very hot, peroxide can be very useful.
Thanks to its antibacterial action, it will eliminate the microorganisms responsible for the bad smell in the armpits or on the feet.
What should you do?
- To use the hydrogen peroxide as a deodorant you can soak a tissue and pass under the arms.
- You can also sprinkle some on your shoes or socks before wearing them.
7. Lighten body hair
In the same way that hydrogen peroxide gives your hair a lighter shine, it can be used to bleach facial hair. For example, if you do not like the hairs on the arms because they are very dark, you can hide them with this ingredient.
What should you do?
- Apply a little once a week after bathing. Leave on for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.
- To speed up the process, we recommend that after the application you expose yourself to the sun even through the window.
